Classic Tulle Skirt

Cannibalism is ok in the costuming world!

For BayCon 2003, I needed another nighttime outfit. All I had were my Arwen gowns, but I wanted to wear them during the day for various reasons. So I combined the tulle-skirted outfit I made for C9 with horns worn in the Devilicious Lady costume.

Thanks to Sally Norton for taking the photo and encouraging me to look eeeeviiiillll (or just plain silly ;-).

For Convergence 9, 2003, I whipped up this outfit from a things I had laying around my closet. First, I took my burgundy cotton wedding corset and trimmed it with a black lace that was leftover from my wedding gown and chemise. Beaded scalloped lace went along the top edge, and a pointed lace went in a "V" down the front. This was a quick little hand-sewing project.

Under the corset, I wore a black mesh top with drippy lace sleeves. Then I made the poufy net skirt from black tulle in my fabric stash. The outfit was accessorized with a black rose that I sewed to a ribbon for a choker, bits of black jet beaded jewelry, hair in a burgundy and black rag-tie from girlgoth.com, and black brocade court shoes.

Let me just say that net skirts are the easiest thing in the world to make. If you can pinch your finger and thumb together, you can sew one of these skirts for yourself! Check out my tutorial to learn how.
