Gothic Martha Stewart: starting, shopping, motifs, projects, resources, notes

 No-Sew Decorative Bedsheets
Materials:
  • a set of bedsheets and pillowcases
  • stencils or other paper designs
  • dressmaker's tracing kit (including carbon paper and tracing wheel)
  • fabric paints and paint brush or fabric pens
You can purchase stencils at craft stores or draw your own or photocopy designs from clip art books (those by Dover Publications are especially good). The design can be anything with strong lines and not too many details. If necessary, enlarge or reduce the designs to fit on your sheets and pillowcases.

Before you start, make sure to wash and dry the sheets. This will make the fabric paint adhere well. Using the dressmaker's carbon paper and tracing wheel, trace over the pattern onto the sheet or pillowcase wherever you want the design to be. This will leave a faint impression of the design on the fabric. Use the fabric paints to color in the design.
