Tried on the bodice with the Dickens skirt — works quite well! The one thing I was worried about (that the bodice is a little higher waisted) was no big deal. Though in the front, the skirting wrinkles a wee bit near the top third. Seems the cartridge-pleating is too bulky for the skirting, should have made them flare out a bit more. Not sure if I’ll re-make them (PITA), or if it won’t be a problem because the front of the actual skirts will be flat due to the forepart. Just have to be careful where the pleating starts. Although that’s just about where I’d normally start the pleating. Hrm… well really, it’s one of those little wrinkles that only the person wearing\/making the costume would care about! Also, don’t forget trim and girdle, etc. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
Which reminds me, the outfit looks so plain right now. I’m just not a “simple elegance” kind of costumer. I’m all about the trimming, baby. Exuberance and OTT are my bag. I looked in the mirror and thought “so not done!” Which it isn’t, duh. It looks nice, don’t get me wrong, it will do. It’s just more plain jane than I’m used to.
