The Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des Lumi\u00e8res held a Turkish-themed salon last night — because, of course, all things exotic & oriental (as it was called then) were quite the rage in the 18th century! So this was an excuse to wear turbans, Indian pajamas, caftans, kimonos, & other “foreign” garb to our articles of undress for a casual evening of delights. I assembled an outfit from things I actually bought in India, plus a borrowed Turkish belly-dancing vest, & wrapped an Indian scarf around my be-wigged head, inspired by Jen Thompson’s helpful video tutorial<\/a>. The effect was a bit more 1920s than 18th century, but it looked cute.<\/p>\n
