I was perusing my links of “random costumes I dig,” as one does, and what rises to the top but this pretty pink dress<\/a>, aka, La jeunesse<\/a> painted by Santi di Tito in the
\nlate 16th century, I’d guess 1580s-90s.<\/p>\n

Omg, that is exactly what I need to cure my ‘not feeling pretty in anything I own-ness’! Because all that pink damask I have in The Stash that’s earmarked for a Venetian dress?
\nYeah, whatevs. Clearly I’m not feeling the Venetian vibe, but Florentine, ok, I can get on that. Especially when it looks passably more French or English, thus closer to my heart and persona (because. yes, that stuff matters to me).<\/p>\n

Annnnd, while I was thinking, make a simple little English fitted gown as a nice wear-around-camp thing, DOOOOD, boring. I have boring clothes for SCA-use. I can make this gown in non-silks (those damasks are cotton-blends and quite sturdy, iirc) and with just-enough \/ not-too-much bling to be pretty yet functional. No ruff for camping, for example, but I could make the ruff and wear that to indoor events like a feast or investiture.<\/p>\n

Yay! I’m excited about costuming again! I’m not just cranking thru basic, necessary clothing. Screw the Gothic Fitted Dress. I need a pretty PINK dress, dammit!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
