Gah. Making underwear is one of the most boring things ever. It’s simple, but tedious. Guess I need to hit the thrift Saturday for some cheap white sheets. If I can’t find any\/enough, I do have a coupon for Hancocks.<\/p>\n

Budget Costuming Tip #20: Joann and Hancock might not be good for many things, but you can always find plain cotton, so you might as well save those mailers with the 40%-off coupons for these basics. Oh, and Hancock has all notions at 40 or 50% off Saturday only. A girl can always use more notions.<\/p>\n

I feel like I’ve done a hell of a lot more this weekend, but I only have a bumroll<\/a> to show for it. I spent all frickin’ afternoon pre-washing and ironing 34850475343139@#$&%^@(!! yards of cotton fabric, but it doesn’t look a heck of a lot different than when I started.<\/p>\n

The thrifting on Saturday was spectacular. I had to stop myself from getting carried away. I was on a roll finding super-sweet goodies cheap. Got a curtain ($3) to make into a petticoat, a the novel Perfume<\/i> set in the 18th century, a tiny pretty little pearl ring, and dundundun<\/i> the most perfectly 18th-century black brocade louis-heeled shoes, high vamp with bow, all trimmed in black braid, MY SIZE, $6. Score! That Savers is my special happy place for shoes in particular. I find soooo many lovely shoes and boots there, including some nifty costume-worthy ones. So now I have four pairs of 18th-century-ish shoes, two black brocades, one white silk, one red crushed velvet.<\/p>\n

Whilst out, I also picked up some stuff for wig\/hair decorations, like white bobby pins and white spray-on haircolor for my hairline under the Big Wig. Unpicked the long curls from said wig and re-sewed them on the back, also tightened the back with a few stitches. I’ve decided that the Big White Wig will go with this costume. It’s going to be pretty over-the-top, and since the musical costume is intentionally silly, the wig should work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
