This has got to be my favorite costume I made for the Chateau de Pys trip — the black silk francaise that I hand-sewed 75% of (not necessarily by choice). That amount of hand-sewing is a first for me, and hopefully a last. But it looks good and didn’t fall apart on first or second wearing. Huzzah!<\/p>\n

Because I wanted the effect of this period fashion plate<\/a> yet in a gothic fashion, I wore a somewhat cheesy white wig that I dressed up in gothic style with black lace, black silk roses, white rhinestone-dotted lilies, and a big black feathered bat. I wore white vintage gloves and scads of rhinestone jewelry as well. On the second wearing, I added black lipstick for more spooky touch along with a black lace mask for our masquerade evening.<\/p>\n
