I’m not ignoring my costume blog, but I really haven’t been “costuming” per se that much. Sure, I dress up for costumed events maybe once every six weeks, but I go huge stretches between making anything new. Until, dun dun dun, Costume College! Well, at least this year. I’ve gone back and forth over the years about wearing ALL THE COSTUMES or being lazy and saving it just for the Gala and the evening events. But I was feeling into it this year, even though I only ended up making one big new thing (despite my Grand Plans of All Bronte All the Time<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Alas,\u00a0 I took almost zero photos myself, except a few silly iPhone pix around the dinner table, so I’m relying on the kindness of strangers for evidence that I actually dressed up at Costume College 2015. My costume lineup was based on what I had in the closet that fit and what kinda-sorta went with the classes I was teaching (or what wouldn’t be super uncomfortable while teaching).<\/p>\n

During the Thursday pool party, we had a Frock Flicks<\/a> live podcast recording, and I made a retro-inspired peplum blouse out of “Fuck You” fabric from Spoonflower designed by my friend La Bricoleuse<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Friday ended up being Cross-Dressing Day, where I wore Leonard Autie<\/a> during the day, with a new “low” wig instead of his tall Macaroni wig. Later that day, for the non-Ice Cream Social, I wore Tyrion Lannister<\/a> since there was a Game of Thrones costuming meetup.<\/p>\n

Saturday, I was teaching a class about Jane Eyre<\/em><\/a>, Wuthering Heights<\/em><\/a>, and film, so I wanted to wear 18th-century, and I’d recently altered my riding habit<\/a> to fit again, thus I wore that. For the Gala that evening, I was the ghost of Catherine Earnshaw from Wuthering Heights (which I’ll do a separate blog post about).<\/p>\n

On Sunday afternoon, I was teaching a class called “Black: It’s Not Just for Mourning,” and I wore a black and white striped 1870s bustle gown I bought from Kendra and altered to fit me.<\/p>\n

This year’s CoCo was fantastic, even if I don’t have much pictorial evidence of that. It was wonderful to reconnect with old friends while indulging in my absolute most favorite pastime of “oooooo, shiny! costume pretty! yay!” I’m swamped with my (relatively new) day job and writing for Frock Flicks, but I have some posts in my head that I want to write up here including:<\/p>\n
