Analyzing the skirt folds on the portrait<\/p><\/div>\n

I’m staring and staring, and I really think there are 2 full layers of black lace that go all the way up to the waistband. There are falling lines, folds, indicating drape in the lower, longer tier that show *under* the shorter layer. You can see the longer layer of black lace folded under the shorter black lace layer in the center front. Look all that bunching.<\/p>\n

I still can’t tell about the sheer purple layers tho. The lace and shadow is just dark enough in that area that a row of stitching for ruffles could be hiding in there (and would certainly be less bother than yet more layers from the waistband!). Plus the black ribbon trim could further hide stitching in those sheer layers.<\/p>\n

I do have sheer organza, but it’s rather stiff and I’m not convinced the drape is right. The painting’s ruffles flow so nicely, but in my pinning, I can’t get this stuff to do anything but stick out. A soft chiffon might be the trick (or maybe layer one over the other? who knows). Besides, it doesn’t look like I have quite enough organza.<\/p>\n
