Betty Boop

Betty Boop

This year’s Halloween costume was inspired by Sarah telling me I had to do this, and the ladies in Bella Donna doing a black-and-white movie theme for the 2014 PEERS Bal des Vampyres. Since my friends there would be in somewhat related costumes, I acquiesced to Sarah’s demand (which was based on my super-short, post-chemo curly hair). And it turned out ok, I guess.

Easy-peasy costume, that’s for sure. I found a cheap strapless dress on eBay, which I altered. I bought huge silver hoop earrings and silver bangle earrings, and I whipped up a little garter. I already had some back-seamed stockings and vintage-style heels. The makeup and hair were the hardest parts — I followed a YouTube tutorial for the makeup and had to glue down my eyebrows to draw in cartoony ones. It even took two tries to get my hair the right amount of curly. But the easiest part was talking a la Boop all night!

Very nice! The black and white photo really sets the mood.
