Done, but Not Premiered

Posted on September 21, 2005 by Trystan

Technically done again! No really. Well, ok, maybe not. I could add more. This is one of those costumes you could always just add a little more too. But for right now, I’m finished.

Finished sewing the trim on the overgown’s neckline, then made a sash for the back. Used the sari trim lined with black fabric, and sewed it along the side-back seams. Tied it, but didn’t need to knot it as the material is very grabby, and also didn’t want to sit back against a big bump.

Now I’m thinking I really should add some of that black velvet with rhinestones trim on the sleeves, where the silver drippy bit meets the sari trim (as shown in the bottom-left picture above). Wouldn’t that further tie the whole thing together beautifully? Sure, it’s more of the dreaded hand-sewing, but it might be so bad… We shall see.

Had to take a photo of the accessories too. At the start of the year, I found a lovely pair of second-hand Nine West mules in beaded/embroidered black satin. Perfect elf shoes! Wore them to a wedding months ago for a good test drive. There’s also the brooch that started it all, plus the circlet. Elf ears not pictured, but everyone knows what those look like.
