Pierrot & Columbine in Love at Carnevale

Posted on September 20, 2023 by Trystan L. Bass
Pierrot & Columbine in Love

Carnevale 2023 overlapped with Valentine’s Day, so one party combined both for a red / black / white and commedia dell’arte mashup. I did a broken-hearted twist mostly using things I already had in my costume closet, with some small additions.  I used the big red coat from my Nadja costume, plus the dress from that costume and swapped out the black lacing up the front for a red ribbon. I pinned the broken-heart applique I’d made for Carnevale 2020 across the front of the dress.

Atop a red cocktail hat I already had, I added a foam anatomical heart model that was split in half — I also painted parts of it black for effect. I randomly whipped up a red and black heart-shaped purse too.

I also got some gothic broken-heart jewelry off AliExpress and wore a black wig and red rhinestone eyebrows to finish the look.

Oh and I bought red leather gloves that day in Venice which I had to wear too!
