It’s been a long time coming, but I finally finished Leonard’s pink suit! I made the pants and waistcoat back in 2023 and commissioned the matching coat around then too. But I never got around to trimming the coat until I was inspired to wear the whole outfit for the Salon at Palais Royal event by the Costumers of Color.
I started hand-sewing this wide black sequined lace along the collar, but got stymied (y’know, me and hand-sewing, ugh!). So I asked my mom, who somehow enjoys such fiddly work. And she amazingly agreed! So over the summer, she painstakingly sewed all the trim on the coat.
I also commissioned a new pink wig from Kendra (who’s written a book on the topic and sometimes makes wigs for sale). I just added a little wig bag. For that head-to-toe look, I also got a pair of American Duchess pompadour shoes in bone and had them custom-dyed by a local cobbler to match the pink in the waistcoat’s pink stripe!
Then it all came together at the event…
