What I want to do vs. what I need to do

Posted on August 23, 2011 by Trystan

In one of my insomniac moments last night, I fantasized about making a new black 1570s gown to wear to Much Ado About Sebastapol. *sigh* There are many things stacked against that happening, the biggest being I’m critically low on time, and second, I’d need a new pattern draft, ideally fitted by someone better than

Introducing Fockett & Cox

Posted on August 12, 2011 by Trystan

At the San Jose Renaissance Faire this August, Sarah and I finally came up with a fantastic idea for what our renfaire personas and gig would be. This was the first renfaire either of us had worked in a million years, and the first one all of us were working together under the “guild” of

Pink Florentine-ish Gown

Posted on August 9, 2011 by Trystan

After the initial wearing of this gown, I added more trim (because really, everything in my world needs more trim). And then I wore it again, several times, and with different accessories. And when our household, the Chateau Rose, participated at the first-ever San Jose Renaissance Faire in August 2011, I wore the gown and

Photos from Venice, Italy, in February 2009 during Carnivale. Also, here’s a costume video shoot of me. It features my mother and step-father, all at Campo San Zaccaria. Click the image below to play or click this link —  Trystan’s carnivale costume video. The video is about two and a half minutes long, and the

Phoenix Parade

Posted on August 10, 2007 by Trystan

The Phoenix Parade was a practically impromptu fashion show inspired by Kambriel and organized on LiveJournal by gothic designers, friends, and Portland, OR, locals. It was an alternative, grass-roots event that took place during, but not as part of, Convergence 13. You can read the whole history of the event, starting here on LJ. Because

SCA West Kingdom 12th Night 2007

Posted on January 7, 2007 by Trystan

Upon first blush, I think Society for Creative Anachronism events are a lot like science-fiction conventions. There are some scheduled things going on, and there’s a dealer’s room. But most of the fun is off in the fringes, what you bring on your own. It’s not like a renaissance faire where the event itself is

Around the World in 80 Days

Posted on October 22, 2006 by Trystan

I do believe the event was a success! People came dressed in a fun variety of costumes and seemed to have a good time. The food and drink were excellent, and one person said “great idea to have an event in a bar!” Everyone was enjoying chatting so much that we didn’t do any organized

Around all the worlds

Posted on October 15, 2006 by Trystan

I finished my outfit today (whew!), and I’ve made some, IMNSHO, kickass party favours. Just gotta print and assemble all today. I also hope to finish one or more photo albums of our travels. I’m encouraging everyone attending to bring their own travel photos, scrapbooks, or memorabilia to share! It’s going to be an afternoon
