Sewing report or “some things shouldn’t take this this long”

Valois gown with petticoat in-progress

Valois gown with petticoat in-progress

Figured I’d whip up the Valois petticoat, as I’d bragged I could do in a few hours. Famous last words. I did assemble it easily (aside from hemming), then I stuck it on the dressform with the gown and realized I hated how it looked. The pleats in the front were all wrong, fugly, bassakwards.

Much seam-ripping ensued. Why is it that everything I sew recently requires so much seam-ripping???

It took countless tries of re-pleating the front before I got the right balance of flatness and fullness. Stayed up till 2:30am to finish it.

But I am pleased with this gown overall. Needs all the bling still, but it’s really on it’s way to being pretty pretty princessy.
